Complete Dentures
We use advanced techniques and additional steps in the process that few other dentists do. Advanced Dental Prosthetics is not a discount denture center. We do not offer cheap/budget dentures. All of the dentures we make are made with the best materials, individual attention, and expert eyes. Many of the steps in making dentures are done here in our office by our dentists and their assistants.
What about dentures if I still have teeth?
If you need to have your remaining teeth removed, we can fabricate dentures for you to wear immediately after the teeth are extracted. These are called immediate dentures or healing dentures. There are several ways to accomplish this and we would be happy to discuss the best option for you during your consultation.
How long will it take to have dentures made?
Our doctor likes to control the process by doing some of the laboratory work himself rather than delegating it to the laboratory technician. This means that the process will likely take more appointments and a longer time to complete than what you may experience in a general office. For most people this can be up to 6 appointments. This is more than most people expect. However, most people who have been disappointed by their dentures in the past are very appreciative of the extra time and perfectionism that our doctors puts into their new dentures

There are several ways to accomplish this and our doctors would be happy to discuss the best option for you during your consultation.
Immediate Dentures (Healing Denture)
In some situations, all the teeth need to be removed and replaced with dentures at the time they are extracted. This type of denture is called an immediate denture or temporary denture. There are multiple steps the dentist must complete before the immediate dentures can be fabricated by the laboratory and the teeth extracted. Although immediate dentures work well to give a new smile and replace teeth immediately, they have many challenges. When all teeth are missing, firstly, denture teeth are tried in the patient’s mouth to verify the smile.
This is not always possible with immediate dentures because some of the natural teeth might still remain. The dentist fabricating the immediate dentures makes educated decision on the models of your teeth in order to make the immediate dentures prior or immediate after extractions.
After the extractions have been performed, the immediate denture is inserted into the patient’s mouth and the fit is evaluated. Often the denture requires a temporary soft lining to be placed to improve the fit for the patient. Generally, the dentist will instruct the patient to wear the new denture for 24 hours without removal. This is a crucial period as the denture protects the extraction sites in the gums, and most importantly relatively confines the swelling. If the denture is removed too early during this period, the patient may not be able to put it back into place due the large amount of swelling that can take place. After the 24 hour period has passed, the denture can then be removed and rinsed and worn as much as possible.
The first couple of weeks can be quite challenging trying to learn how to use the new dentures, adjust to speaking, and managing the associated pain and healing of the gums. New dentures will always require minor adjustments in order to prevent sore spots in the beginning stages. Please keep in close contact with your dentist so that he/she can help you through this period.
Partial Dentures
If you are missing teeth, a partial denture may be a viable option for you. A partial denture relies on your existing teeth for support and retention. Partial dentures can be made from many different materials and many different configurations. The most common type utilizes an Acrylic or a Chrome –Cobalt framework that is adapted to your existing teeth and tissues. The denture teeth and pink acrylic that mimics your gums are attached to the metal framework. In most cases partial dentures are preferred over complete dentures because they are much more stable in the mouth. A partial denture is a removable prosthesis.
Implant and other Attachment Systems for Overdentures and Partial Dentures
There are two basic types of attached dentures: fixed and removable.
The fixed refers to the denture being screwed into place and is unmovable, while the removable denture snaps on and off. Special requirements must be met for each scenario, including the amount of jaw bone available, the patient’s smile line, patient’s desires, and many more.
Attachment Systems are designed for low height, simple use, and long wearing for over dentures or partial dentures on natural teeth. The components of the systems are designed to provide a low point of connection for decreased stress on the supporting structures and flexibility with the placement and design of denture teeth.
A fixed implant denture is one that screws directly into the implants and is fully supported by them. This is an important difference between the two, as this type of implant denture does not rest on the gums at all. By being fully implant supported, biting force is restored similar to what it once was. With this type of restoration, the patient enjoys a better quality of life in everyday activities such as eating, speaking, talking, and even sleeping!
